Tree Removal Permits in Gaithersburg
Many residents of the City of Gaithersburg are focusing on their lawns, gardens and trees at this time of the year. The severe winter weather created an unusually high level of damage to trees and shrubbery. You may wish to remove or replace some trees that are damaged or that now pose a risk during the hurricane season.
Please be aware of the requirement to obtain a permit to remove trees within the City of Gaithersburg.
This is the Tree Removal notice from the City:
To protect and preserve our urban tree canopy, the City of Gaithersburg requires residents to obtain a permit to remove, top or relocate a tree whose trunk is more than 2 inches in diameter when measured 4 inches up from the ground. Once the permit is received, a laminated sign will be provided to be staked on the property, so neighbors will know that permission has been granted. If you are concerned about trees being removed from private property without City permission, please contact the City's Neighborhood Services Division atneighborhoods@gaithersburgmd.gov or call 301-258-6340 during regular business hours. Read more here.
For out of the area readers, the City of Gaithersburg is located in the heart of Montgomery County, Maryland in the western suburbs of Washington, DC.
