What If My Dream House Sells Before I Get Pre-Qualified?
I won't lie. This sometimes happens. Especially in certain price ranges and neighborhoods. It usually happens to "buyers" that weren't really looking to buy but stumbled into an open house or upon a home that they have always loved.
A few weeks ago was one of those days. An excited buyer contacted me through Zillow. This particular home had been on the market for months. As I request with every new buyer, I ask that she meet me at the office for a home buyer consultation.
We discussed her timeline, her budget, her wants for her first home, etc. She even had been to a lender but didn't feel comfortable with that particular person and wanted to meet with some others before choosing. Fair enough. She had called and met other agents as well before meeting with me.
Ultimately, I connected her with one of my lender partners for the next day and we went to see the home that she originally contacted me about. She loved the house, she could picture living there and what she could do to make it her own. It seemed too easy.
And it was.....the house sold the next day to another buyer. And she could not make an offer because she was not pre-qualified. The first week that we looked at other homes, she kept comparing them to the "one that got away". Until last week when she found a new "dream" home. Only this time, she was ready to make an offer. This time she was the buyer that got the house. And it was so much better for her than the first one that got away.
Sometimes, it takes a loss to get focused on what you really want. Don't be afraid to lose one that you think is "the one" because there is usually another one that will come along later. The important first step is to meet with an agent and get pre-qualified. Then you can start your search ready to make an offer if the perfect home comes along.
I would love to be a part of your story! Call me for a free home buyer consultation and we will work together to find and purchase your first or next home.
Keep smiling~
