My new .realtor url

By
Real Estate Agent with RLAH / @properties DC / MD / VA

There are some things that I can be very ocd about, and today, 11am Eastern, I knew I could get onto the defined site and claim my new url which has a .realtor extension.

While I'm not certain of the value and the point of this, I'd rather lock myself in than to regret having done so later.  The pain of later trumps the joy of having it today, that's what compels people's behavior.

There were several options.... ClaudeLabbe.realtor,  202Labbe.realtor  (evidently based on my area code), CLabbe.realtor and dozens more suggestions.  If my name were Jack Jones, surely I'd expect to have to fight for my preferred url and that would be logical to me.  However, someone has already locked up Claude.realtor !!!  I'm thinking there are maybe a dozen of us in the US (though it could be some guy up in Canada, it seemed one has to be a member of NAR to get this done today).

I choose BuyWithClaude.realtor due to the logic that I could use this to play and test out some ideas.

It would be interesting to know what you have experience with this rollout.

If you'd like to know more about guidelines and usage, hop over to this site...

I know that we're told not to use our names, but yet if a former client wants to find us, our name makes the most sense.

I logged in the weekend prior to the opening 11am "free for all" to find out that the domain "richard.realtor" was already taken. Suspecting some funny business I called into the domain registrar to ask how this could be. Apparently there was a very soft "pre-opening" (before priority access) where some higher-ups were able to book their names. I'm actually okay with that as you have to expect some perks when working for the company that is actually maintaining the domains.

I ended up with AskRichard.realtor which I'm happy with. Like you Claude, I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it but I'd rather be locked in the first year than realize I need the domain and end up with Richard4643.realtor, which means nothing.

I feel that the new Realtor url is a smart marketing move.

Good luck and success.

I was  in the pre-order category as I signed up awhile back. I didn't just use my name though and I am not sure just using a first name would do much. Mine is RVAHomeTeamShannonMilligan.Realtor as someone MIGHT just Google that. I haven't pointed the URL anywhere yet but, like you, I wanted to lock up my preferred name.
