How To Get A Loan To Buy A House, Amarillo TX;   The Paperwork

There is a book that I have been reading called the Organized Mind.  It talks about a lot of great things that explain why we think and do some of the things that we do. One of the things that really stuck with me was the fact that humans didn't start creating a language and writing things down until there were too many things to remember.  Thus the paperwork.

When you get a loan to buy a house the bank or lender is going to require a lot of paperwork.

The biggest complaint I hear is this; I gave them everything they asked for and now they want more.

Let me explain to you why that happens.  An example that we might all understand is this.  Have you ever taken your vehicle to the garage because your front brakes were squeaking.  It seems pretty straightforward.  However, once the wheels are taken off it is clear

that the not only do you need new brake pads but you also need your rotors turned.  Just in case a surprise doesn't pop up later, we had probably had better check the back brakes, too.

That is how it works with paperwork when you get a loan to buy a house.  Very often the straightforward paperwork isn't as straightforward after all. Sometimes it just brings up more questions that require more answers thus more paperwork.

The typical paperwork needed to get a loan to buy a house is as follows:

  • 2 years tax returns, all pages
  • 2 years W-2 forms from all job
  • Pay stubs covering the last 30 days of pay
  • 2 months of bank statements from all accounts
  • Picture ID

Those are the basic items that are needed.  Everyone has a different situation, though, so be prepared if any of these items may apply to you.

  • Been divorced
  • Get child support
  • Pay child support
  • Student loans?
  • Got mad at Sprint and told them to
  • Didn't have time to take the satellite dish back.

  • Where did that $10,000 deposit on your bank statement come from?
You get the idea. There are many things that come into play with paperwork.  No matter how thorough you are, you will pretty much always need to bring in more documents.  Just remember that the bank/lender is on your side.  They are trying to do the best job possible to get you into your house.

Once you have provided all of the paperwork that was asked for your file is given to a micro manager that needs everything to be perfect beyond just below Jesus.

More paperwork.  Don't offended.  Just sigh and do it. LOL

Thank you for reading my page about how to get a loan to buy a house:  The Paperwork.
