We're Closing Out the Season Here in Ocean City, New Jersey
It appears like we're always closing out another season here in our resort town, the most northern and the largest community in Cape May County ... and the only one on a barrier island.
So as we start to conclude the "fall buying period" which mostly occurs about the time of Thanksgiving ... only this closing also leads into the December holidays including First Night which is a major celebration here in Ocean City (NJ). In other words, our closing out another season this time will tend to run through all of December, January, and February ... a definite three-month closeout.
Yes, there will be a significant crowd here for "First Night," but that will last just a bit less or more than 24 hours ... then "the real world" intrudes by requesting that everybody get back to work.
Now real estate agents continue to work with sale listings and the occasional buyer and/or owner who might venture down to the shore. And real estate agents will also continue to work with rental owners and rental tenants who are locking up their properties for the coming 2015 summer season.
But many real estate agents will also be looking at where they might take their winter vacation somewhere warm while most of "the action" will NOT be taking place here in our quiet little winter town along the Atlantic Ocean.
In other words, no one seems to be checking out Ocean City (NJ) as a great winter location. Now along with many other real estate agents, we will also be considering a winter break someplace warm ... but unlike so many real estate agents, I also like the quiet, cold winter days here on our little barrier island. I like knocking out a few hours at the real estate office. I still like getting some calls from owners, buyers, and rental tenants. But I like catching a few hours of afternoon light, taking a walk on the beach, checking out what's happening around the town. Although not my favorite time of the year ... it gives just about everybody in town a nice restful break from all of the other busy time frames in the rest of the year.
