Yesterday was my grandson's fifth birthday, and as I mentioned in an earlier post entitled "My Contractor To Be", he wanted his party at Home Depot where he and his friends could get "hands on" practice in building things. The party was a huge success with about 20 little ones and their parents all grabbing hammers for their building projects.
Home Depot supplies "kits" from which the kids are able to assemble various items, including bird houses, race cars, banks, ships, and helicopters. My grandson made his choice, he was going to "build" a helicopter. His sister chose to "build" a bird house.
All of the parents helped their children assemble these various pre-cut toys and other items. Home Depot allocated 4-5 employees to help as well. HD also provides stickers to decorate the completed projects, not to mention the HD aprons that each child was given! They used pallets of wood as tables for work benches. Pretty cleaver of HD to put all this together.
Not sure what the cost was for the use of the lumber department at the local store and the help of the store employees. Had to be less than the cost of the bouncy house with all the trimmings that were the scene of prior parties. Below are a few pictures from the event.
