Vegas Bob Expresses to be "Thankful" you are in America and stop complaining

This is so true VB.  I've been watching every Anthony Bourdain episode for a while now on Netflix, and the one thing that is always striking to me is how much of the rest of the world lives in comparison to us here in the USA. Even our very poorest people are wealthy by comparison to the folks who live in some of those other nations you mentioned. We are so blessed to live in the USA, and yet so many Americans are oblivious and ungrateful.

My son is adopted from Mexico.  We went there to pick him up and file paperwork. I was shocked at some of the homes and places there. And the children begging.  We have so much but still everyone complains.  

Sad but true words Vegas Bob. My father grew up during the American Depression and he taught me similar views as you point out here. It has rubbed off on me and I wish all Americans would realize how good we really have it.

VB~this would be the time to take some of those young people who've not experienced a "lacking" of anything and have them go to some of these places and help build habitats for them. My sister took her son to a 3rd world country when he was 15-16 to do just that. It completely changed him. It also made their relationship even closer than it had been.

Great message that needs to "go global".

       I have two cousins from El Salvador, and a cousin from Rwanda (all 3 were adopted into our family).   Would anyone care to relocate to their hometowns?  I think not.

VB, this is so true.  We lived along the Mexican border for a few years and just going across the border was an eye opener.  People were living in cardboard shacks and rummaging the landfill for usable items. 

Excellent post VB - so many children here in America are spoiled and take everything for granted. My sister's grandchildren wanted an ipod for Christmas...they didn't get one and of course had an attitude. 

VB, so true.  People should be aware of just how lucky we are to be living in this great country.

Thank you for this sad but true post.  I know that my husband and I are just as guilty when it comes to "buying" for our granddaughter.   We have so much to be thankful for - beyond measure!  I appreciated your reminder.  Happy New Year - I am looking forward to getting to know you on AR!

VB- I am grateful every day that my grandparents on both my parent's sides of the family came to this country over a hundred years ago.  It would do well for some of our young people to experience some of what others do every day of their lives.

VB - I hope this post gets featured. The "you owe me something" attitude in America makes me both sad and angry. We are all so lucky to live in the USA and should be grateful for what we have AND grateful that we can work to better ourselves. This is a wonderful reminder. 

Good morning VB. I have to agree with you. This is a land of opportunity unlike any other nation. I find it amazing how people can come into this country penniless and amass fortunes while folks who live here remain penniless and complain.
