So many things to do… so little time to get everything done! How do you keep track of all the things that you need to do? For many, the trusty “post-it” note is a go-to favorite. What does your computer monitor look like? Do you have these plastered all over the place?
Today’s post, I want to put the spotlight on an app that I’ve been using for a while and can highly recommend. The app is called Wunderlist. It is a modern way to keep track of all those things that you need to do.
These days we talk about working “on the cloud” – well here’s a perfect example of why that is so awesome that we can be able to do that. Let’s say you are out running errands and you realize something that you need to remember to do. Your post it stack is back at your desk. No problem! Take out your phone, start wunderlist and put in your task. Because the task lists live on the cloud, you can see those same lists whether you are on your laptop, phone, or tablet.
What is also really cool about this app… It’s FREE.
Let’s take a quick tour of the interface. In the screenshot below, this is the wunderlist.com website view. The left side of the window is a list of the names of your saved lists. You might have general lists for work and personal. Perhaps you have lists related to particular clients. You can even create fun lists like movies to watch. Another useful list might be for your next grocery shopping visit.
As items are completed, check them off and they will drop down to the bottom into a hidden view. You can unhide your completed tasks any time you want to review..
If you want to re-sequence a particular task, simply drag and drop it in the new spot that you want it to be in.
Once you get the hang of the basics of lists, you may want to explore a little deeper. If you double-click on any task, a right sidebar screen opens up so you can add due dates and reminder options if you want. There is also a checklist feature so you can create subtasks that you can check off as you go.
In the right sidebar also is a note box where you can add notes and other information like website URLs of related pages.
One of the great features of wunderlist also for being cloud-based, is that you can share lists with family, friends, or colleagues. You can work on task lists together. As soon as one person updates a list, the other ones get notifications. On the right sidebar also is a place to have chat conversations about the topic.
Here’s a short little video from the makers of wunderlist:
To add the app on your phone or tablet, simply go to the app store on your device and search for wunderlist.
I hope the new year brings lots of completed tasks checked off your new lists!
