I have had my real estate license for a short time, but I did not focus on finding clients. I was busy finding houses to flip, managing the projects and then selling these houses. As the availability of good houses is tight in our market, I have decided to focus on finding some clients. So I am now into marketing. This is a new concept to me and I have learned plenty in the last couple of weeks.
One of the first things I have done is start this blog on Active Rain. As part of that, I am learning not only how to write a blog, but how to format a blog. (Did I do a good job getting my picture in the corner and wrapping my text? I did this in Word and copied and pasted.) Now I need to figure out this search engine optimization (SEO). A term I didn’t even know a couple of weeks ago. Please share some tips. How does my picture look? I found it on Google Images, I was going for funny and overwhelmed. I also need to figure out how to put one of those awesome footers on my blog I see so many of you use.
I also started a Facebook business page: Kevin Flinn Kansas City Real Estate Agent. I have been trying to get a few posts a day on this page. I post all of my blogs on here. I am having problems with their appearance. My pictures on the Active Rain blog don’t show up on the postings. Any thoughts on this? I also share plenty of postings from Trulia, Zillow, Realtor.com etc. I have a $5 a day budget and in the last week, I have gained about 130 likes in 6 days. Luckily most of the people are from the Kansas City market. I hope to keep this going and increase my traffic to the site. Hopefully, I can start gaining some organic likes as well.
The last thing I have done is signed up for a zip code with Zillow. I have heard differing views on doing this, but I figured it was worth the shot. I got a good zip code and they are promising me over 5,000 views a month. If I can covert a client a month the investment will be justified.
So I am in this journey and have learned a lot. I will keep going, because I will succeed as a Realtor. Thanks for your tips and any support.
