Honey Moon Viognier, 2012, California Wine
Honey Moon Viognier, 2012, is an inexpensive California white wine that we purchased at the Trader Joe's store in Williamsburg, Virginia. If you are not familiar with Viognier wines, this is a good one to sample for a new experience.
“The Honey Moon 2012 Viognier had a nose full of peaches and nectarines. There was also a great concentration of jasmine, minerals, and candied lemon peel. The wine was similar in flavor with the addition of honey, apricots, and white pepper. The acidity in this wine was actually higher than some Viognier I’ve had in the past but it’s not too acidic. It’s more food friendly then most and will certainly stand up to creamy sauces or cheese. The finish was medium in length with the white pepper and citrus notes sticking it out. I paired this with a spinach salad and it was absolutely divine! The white pepper and citrus really came forward with the salad balancing the other fruits in the wine nicely.
I’ve had more complex Viognier but the Honey Moon 2012 Viognier is certainly tasty. My only complaints are it’s a hint too sweet for some dishes. It’s not really that sweet at all but it’s certainly just into the off dry territory. My guests loved it. We will certainly buy it again! On the standard Wine Spectator scale, we give the Honey Moon 2012 Viognier an 86 point score.” – Clever Girl Review
