Several years ago James Carvelle, chief campaign strategist for Bill Clinton coined the phrase, “It’s the economy, stupid”. Well here in the ‘Rain, it is about the conversations. Conversations are are the user interactions that perpetuates the blog and good, thoughtful comments help bolster the conversation.
What you say in the form of a comment speaks volumes about you and to the person who wrote the blog. Nothing comments like “Great information, make it a great day.” or something similar tells the writer and other readers, it is about you and all you are interested in is the 25 points. - Next… At least this is my take.
I have been an active member of ActiveRain since 2007 and I have seen a lot of bloggers come and go and ‘nothing comments’, as I call them, have been around since the platform started. Jonathan and the founding members wanted this platform to be different and created a way to entice meaningful, purposeful and stimulating conversations. IMHO, nothing comments do exactly that - nothing! They are a detriment to the community.
As with all opinions and thoughts, my 2¢’s worth and your credit card will purchase a cup of Joe at the local coffee shop. See you Latte…
