A Night In Rio in Charlotte's Neighborhood Theatre The 6th Annual Brazilian Festival will let you enjoy a "Night in Rio" without ever leaving Charlotte, North Carolina. Mardi Gras might officially be over, but you can still enjoy a Brazilian Carnaval on Saturday, February 21st, with dancing, live music, traditional dancing, Brazilian food and drinks and arts and crafts. Charlotte's annual Brazilian Festival is sponsored by the Latin American Coalition. The Latin American community is one of the fastest growing in the Charlotte metro area and A Night in Rio at the Brazilian Festival is a wonderful way explore this one special aspect of the Charlotte's rich Latin American culture.

A Night in Rio: The Brazilian Carnaval Experience
"All hail the Queen, city that is. The night the queen city anxiously waits for every year is finally here! Charlotte will once again be painted with those signature colors of Brazil: green, yellow, blue, and white. For the 6th anniversary of A Night in Rio, the Latin American Coalition is proud to bring the contagious energy and enthusiasm of Brazilian Carnaval to the Neighborhood Theatre in the heart of NoDa Charlotte on Saturday, February 21, 2015. Doors open at 7 PM followed by an acoustic bossa nova performance by Reinaldo Brahn, Followed by the always popular FREE Samba dance lessons and the energetic and contagious Carnaval parade.Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 the day of the show.
The Night in Rio festival will host some of the most spectacular talent to date. All the way from Bahia – the soul and heartbeat of Brazil – the Afro-Brazilian funk and groove group Dendé & Band, they combine Brazil rhythms heavy music with the grooves of afro beat reggae and others from around the world.
Live music performance by Batuque de Terreiro; Charlotte’s own regionally renowned dance company, Movimentos de Samba, will enthrall the crowd with new dance performances. Brazilian Fusion, a new Brazilian dance group, will make their “Night in Rio” debut. This celebration would not be complete without Capoeira Cordao de Ouro and their perfectly mastered capoeira, the Afro-Brazilian martial arts that combine music and dance.
Get a taste of Brazilian Carnaval through dancing, live music, authentic food, drinks, and marketplace. Put on your green and yellow, try a caipirinha, and join us for the unforgettable experience of Brazilian Carnaval!
