Clydesdales coming to Bluffton, SC March 13, 2015
Who says everything about Friday the 13th is bad???? This Friday the 13th a team of the famous Budweiser Clydesdales will be coming to Bluffton, SC. In honor of the 5th anniversary of The Olde Town Dispensary, these beautiful horses will be hitched to their traditional bright red Budweiser beer wagon and will parade down Calhoun Street at 4PM.
For those wanting to see them disembark from their 50-foot tractor trailers - where they travel in great style and comfort - you will need to get there by 2PM!
Obviously, the Clydesdales are the best ambassadors for Anheuser-Busch and are made continually famous by their Super Bowl commercials as well as periodic visits throughout the country.
These horses were bred for their tremendous strength and ability to pull loads of up to 1 ton at a fast clip of 5 miles an hour! Today's Clydesdales are used primarily for breeding purposes and as ambassadors. In order to qualify as a Budweiser hitching horse, the horse must be a gelding at 4 years of age and stand at least 72 inches at the shoulder when mature, and he must have a bay coat, four white legs, a white blaza and black mane and tail - weight 1800-2300 pounds!
If you can't get to Bluffton to see the whole team, be sure to see Harley - the resident Clydesdale at Lawton Stables in Sea Pines. He's a big gentle giant and loves his muzzle petted!
