Real Estate Agent RE# 118517

Greetings all!

I wear my heart on my sleeve often times, and this might just be one of those moments. You see, I am a brand new agent, and I am not afraid to share this fact with you all. Fresh from the aviation industry where I spent 15 years filling various roles like pilot, maintenance manager, and supply chain specialist, I come into my new career with one major life lesson in mind -- you need to speak your mind and have the confidence to do so.

Learning to speak my mind, tactfully mind you, kept me in the forefront of things I held dear to me in my previous career, things such as safety and ethics. So long as I could truthfully speak my mind, I knew things would get accomplished safely and ethically.

The same, I hope, holds true in real estate; safety and ethics. I have but one month under my belt right now as an agent, and so far I have seen nothing but safety and ethics amongst my colleagues. I can expect no less, because the client should expect no less. Dare I believe the shared core competenties of safety and ethics flows effortlessly throughout the kingdom?

My heart says yes, but my logical mind cries "BEWARE!" I like to expect the best out of people, not the worst. Maybe I am naive in this thought, but I would rather believe the best in people rather than expect the worst so I do not hurt as bad. But that is just me. As a new agent, I want to go into this career with a positive mindset. And if I get burned? Well, I have handled fires before.

But I digress. I hope my future blogs are, well, useful to the audience. Whether you use them for laughs, or for thought, either way is great. Thanks for reading! Take care all!

The overwhelming majority of real estate professionals are hard-working, ethical, and a pleasure to deal with. You will have those that don't fit that description but the same holds true for any industry.

Welcome James Reeves

I was a police officer for 28 years and have been selling real estate for 10 years. Believe me James, these are many of the same people buying houses or just attending open houses to have the dream that they might someday own a home but unlikely. I teach a safety class and things do happen. But considering how many agents are out there, there is very few incidents nationwide. Have fun but always be aware of your surroundings.

If there is one fact that holds true if you work in the real estate business is you will get burned. Doesn't matter how decent of a person you are.

The true test is how you respond.

Hello James, and welcome to the platform and the business.  There is nothing wrong in expecting everyone to be forthright and ethical, we just don't always see it. If you keep the line open but prepared for the one that will try to take advantage of you, you should do fine.
