A Weed or A Wish?

By

Weed or WishA Weed or A Wish?  Obstacles or Opportunities?  Life is truly about perspective and how we view the world through our tiny lens.

My friends say I was born positive.  Perhaps.  But I've certainly had my share of trials, heartache and disappointment.  Who hasn't.

Do you suppose we were shaped in the womb with certain DNA pointing us to the brighter side of life?  Or is it something we learn?  Gazillions of dollars are spent on shaping one's tude.

I'm inclined to believe a little of both ;-)

Mel, I am with you. I believe it is both. Yet we always have a choice. In that photo I see beauty. I see life. I see nature. I see God. I see good. I see love. Shall I continue?

I think we are born with a certain makeup and our parents or caregivers can mold it and shape it but they have to work with what they get.  I then think that as adults we get to work on ourselves.

Hi Mel- I'm more positive.  it's a choice I make because it's just the way I prefer to look at things.  I can be the other way, but it's not as fun!

Good Afternoon, Melinda. I am more of the Half-Glass full person. I think positive even in the worst of situations. A positive attitude can be contagious to others, enlightening, and can go a very long ways.  I like your post. Have a great afternoon!

Thanks for the reminder Mel, I generally do stay on the positive side of most situations, but it has been a while since I have taken the time to experience the joy of blowing the seeds off of a dandelion.

My mom used to get so upset with me when I would see a wish with those in the front yard.  She wanted me to take them into the parking lot across the street and then see a wish. LOL  Thanks for the happy childhood memory you just brought up.

I definitely think that there is both nature and nurture in the evolution of our "tudes" - many of us are a lot of each.  It sure makes life interesting!

I tend to go throuh cycles of a sort....sometimes I'm much more positive than others.  I'm a believer in the power of positive thinking, but sometimes I just get a little sucked in to the negativity that surrounds me.

What you focus on expands.  If you focus on the positive then so goes your "tude".  Start each day with a positive affirmation then move on.

I think our capacity for happiness comes from a combination of DNA and our nurturing during childhood.  I'm glad I was given good genes in that department, and was fortunate to have a delightful childhood.

I'm one of those people who always see the bright side and rarely have a down day. Being optimistic is something I was born being and am thankful for it. I have learned to be quietly skeptical and not take everything at face value as I once might have. But optimism is a integral part of my being. Born this way.

I'm a big believer Melinda (Mel) Peterson it's a bunch of both! :O) It's shaped a lot by who we were around growing up, but some of it I can't help but think was in our DNA. Not that one can't learn to be positive. As always Mel, I so appreciate your attitude and I identify with it. You have a way about you that always conveys a smile and a wink.

I think we are born with the main part of our personalities, and then it's up to us to change things if we're not happy with who we are.  I don't see any other way to explain how two babies can be born to the same parents in the same house and be totally different in personality from the get-go.

You said a lot in a few words. Makes me think - do we see things as stumbling blocks or stepping stones?

I believe certain things happen when creation is forming in the womb that can change the outcome, i.e., stress, fetal alcohol syndrome, disease, chemicals, an accident, etc. Because you never know for sure when a woman is carrying a child in their womb, all women should treat themselves respectfully and be treated with respect by others whether they are pregnant or not.
