WHAT HAVE YOU STOPPED DOING IN 2015?
My whole life I have been a "workaholic". I love what I'm doing and I'm passionate about doing it. Actually I've been very blessed throughout the past 30 years to love what I do regardless of the career at the time.
Unfortunately when you love what you do, you tend to do it too much. The past 5 - 6 years is no different. I've actually probably worked way to much the past 5 years with almost no days off. Mainly out of neccessity vs desire.
When the calendar flipped over to 2015 I made a promise to myself and those I care about to take at least one day off a week. For the most part I have succeeded. It felt weird at first. I started off having tons to do on that "day off" but then soon realized what I really needed was a battery recharge on those days.
When I read what our March Contest Challenge: What Have You Stopped Doing in 2015 I had to think about what I really did stop doing this year. While there have been things I've stopped and since started up again, the one thing I realize I am still committed to is this day off. For me, that is huge.
Now I spend that day off focused on my family. Doing things in my home office I put off. Sometimes even playing candy crush. LOL. But not matter what I spend it on, I know I try had to not make it "work" related and I try and "be there" for those I'm around. And they seem to be enjoying it as much as I am.
So when I look at my goals and what I have stopped doing in 2015 I realize that I may still work like crazy, but I have stopped feeling the need to work 24/7. Even better, I really like taking that day off. :-)
Thanks Grant Schneider for the challenge to stop and share.
