Bobby LehmKuhl, a Real Estate professional from Malibu, CA, gives Jim a rundown of who lives in Malibu and why client confidentiality is so important.
Jim noticed that 15-20% of houses in Malibu were listed as vacant. Bobby explains that because of the nature of the town of Malibu and the beautiful California weather, a good amount of homes in the area are people's second or vacation homes. Because they don't reside in them year-round, they happen to be counted as vacant homes.
Bobby lists some famous people he has met or knows live in Malibu: Jeff Bridges, Mel Brooks, Gary Busey, Johnny Carson, Cher, Bob Dylan, Robert Downey Jr., Mel Gibson, Tom Hanks, and many, many more. Because of the amount of celebrities that live in the area, its very important to keep client confidentiality.
Bobby and Jim also quickly discuss that its difficult to develop land in Malibu. Why? Bobby says there's "so many hoops to jump through," dealing with the City of Malibu, the Los Angeles County, the Santa Monica Mountain Conservatory, and the California Coastal Commission. Getting approval from all these different places makes it difficult to develop land in the area.
