"Life isn't about finding yourself.  Life is about creating yourself."

                   George Bernard Shaw

We all have challenges in life.  That is something that never seems to change.  We often think, "When I get through this...." and when we do, another challenge seems to come along.

Some of you have read prior blogs about my mom.  Mom is nearly 87 and she broke her hip a few months ago.  We go her through surgery and rehab after a few trying months.  Then she collapsed and was hospitalized to find other life ending health issues.  She came home under the care of Hospice about 6 weeks ago.

I have cared for her every day for the past 35 years and this has been the most difficult experience I have ever been challenged by.

Mom is now 12 days without food and water and she was only 100 lbs at the start of this phase of life.  I have always know I was strong and that I would find the strentgh I needed to get throuh any challenge I was faced with.  I never thought things would get this hard.  I have found strength I never knew I had.

Whatever life brings, I will rise to the challenge.  I will reinvent myself!

Dee- I suspect that your mom wants only the best for you - we all will come to these difficult days but we never want our children to go through them with us, do not add to your mom's suffering by having her worrying about you.  Been there and wish I could re do it.  Many hugs to you

Dee- your mother is very lucky to have you by her side.  I think life is a series of reinventing ourselves.  Your quote is so right.  We always hear about "finding ourselves" but I suppose what we're really doing is creating who we hope to be. I just sent you a virtual hug.

There is a realty to life and it is that position has no priority and our days of living are an unknown.  The best we can do is make the most of each day and when the people around us are stressed comfort them as best we can.

Good morning Dee. Very interesting quote. I do have to agree with Kathy's comment as I was thinking this too.

Lise Howe Thank you for your comments.  I've cared for Mom for 35 years which is twice as long as she cared for me.  We've had amazing conversations during this time.

Kathy Streib Thanks for the "hug".  I'll take all I can get!

Thanks, Michael!

Ed, you are absolutely right!

Thanks everyone!
