Memorial Day is a Holiday
It's a time for many people to stay home from work and get together with family and friends. Whenever you have a group of people, one of the following topics typically comes up:
- Moving
- Relocating
- Marriage
- Babies
- Graduations
- Divorce
- Dying
- Sickness
- Houses
- College
Generations will consist of the elders who lived during World War II, many Grandparents now Baby Boomers, Parents with or without children (Generation X), and Millennials (the new professionals, working class or students). Millions of people will be celebrating the Memorial Day Weekend and over a million people will say they know someone who just moved, needs to move in, move out, or someone who is thinking about moving into a new house. Multi-generational families are looking for bigger homes to accommodate aging parents.
Regardless of circumstances, not one of those people will say we need to move because we need to buy a new roof, chimney, some walls, floors, windows, doors, kitchen, backyard, etc. They will reference a new home regardless if it's new construction, pre-existing, a condo, townhouse, apartment, assisted living, or even a double wide. To them it all means the same thing someone needs or wants to move.
The difference between the generations is one usually has more money and the other may not even know what it takes to purchase a new home or how to apply for a mortgage. Millennials will look up to their elders for answers and many will expect to use their inheritance now. Those who have earned good money over time may cash in their 401K's if they have a house to sell. The best advice is to get the right advice from a Financial Mortgage Advisor and don't take foolish risks. Your agent should be able to refer you to a credible local lender.
Memorial Day is a time for family, reflection on the deceased, those soldiers who lost their lives, the desire for quality of life, questions about placement of family members, and making decisions about moving on with the life that still exists.
