My office recently announced a merger with a Sotheby's affiliate which will certainly help brand 
ourselves even more in the luxury market of Manhattan Beach and the South Bay. Yesterday we had a meeting about how Sotheby's would like us to present our listings with beautiful images, stunning video and as that's what I've been doing for years, I'm all for it.
But something that is just the reality is that sometimes we need to sell ugly houses.
It doesn't make our lives easy when the house is ugly, or the furnishing are ugly, but it's certainly a reality. When a picture of the exterior is about the only image that might help the home sell what do you do?
I've moved things, cleaned, staged, painted, and spent my own money when a client didn't see the need....but sometimes to quote a co-worker "it's like lipstick on a pig"
How do you handle it when you have to try to make an ugly house look good....or even ok....or even livable?
