Fun Day For All At Burgundy Hollow Horse Trials
Burgundy Hollow Farm is a lovely farm in Northampton County, PA where Michelle Casale, the owner of the farm, holds horse trials three times a year. The horse trials are more for schooling, either horse or rider, or both.
Horse trials consist of three phases: dressage, cross country and stadium jumping. Riders may enter to ride either individual phases or all three.
The dressage phase is where the horse and rider ride a pattern with assorted moves in a ring. This phase is judged on how obedient the horse is to the rider. There are different levels, beginning with the easiest (walk and trot) to the more difficult moves.
The cross country phase is where horse and rider ride out in the open country over a course, going through and jumping various natural obstacles, such as logs, water, chicken coops, ditches, etc. The horse must be in fit condition since the course may prove to be difficult, covering much ground, going over hills, through water and woods.
The last phase is the stadium jumping phase, where horse and rider are to jump a course of stadium jumps. Here is where the horse and rider show if they have enough strength and endurance to complete after an exhausting run cross country.
This is not only a fun event to participate in, it is also fun and exciting to watch. Even the volunteers enjoy the day at this event. It's also a great event to meet old friends and even make new ones.
The next event is July 19th, 2015,and the last one of the year will be held September 27th, 2015.
Come on out and enjoy the day watching or volunteering at this fun event. Free parking and food is available.
