Book Review: The Sell - How To Sell Anything To Anyone

I read a lot of books! About one every 10 days, best of all, they are all nonfiction. Not many people know this about me, but I can not read fiction books. Even going back to High School, I would ditch the required reading and instead immerse myself in business books.

Good news about this is, I learn a lot from other successful people. So I am going to start reviewing my books and recommend them for either Real Estate, General Business or Marketing.

If you watch the show Million Dollar Listing New York, you have heard of Fredrik Eklund. I will be the first to admit, the show does not represent the average real estate agent career or how the business works. In fact I believe a lot of agents get a glamorous idea of our business, learn it is not like on the show, and are out within the first year.

The Sell however, is a good read for business.

The main lesson is to be yourself in business, to attract more business.

My absolute favorite part was towards the end about the concept of Pronoia, the opposite of paranoia. You look at the world as if there is a conspiracy to help you succeed. Loved that concept and it does make you look at the world differently. Even if only for a little bit.

If you want to learn more about the concept of Pronoia, I wrote a blog yesterday about it here.

The book also has helpful tips on social media strategy (to bad not all of us have over 400,000 twitter followers to sell our listing with one instagram post).

The last part of the book, talks about something any business needs. Exposure. Some tips on getting in the media, and how to network and market for free.

Anyone that started with no family, no friends, and no network in a city to become the number sales team has something to teach. This book is a quick read, and worth it.

Stefan Winter runs a real estate team in Las Vegas called Winter Group at Keller Williams Realty.

Stefan and his business partner Blanca Barajas also own a successful marketing consulting firm, as well as a real estate Podcast & course called Keys To Real Estate Leads. Stefan now spends his time expanding his real estate brand to other cities including Chicago, Columbus, Dayton and in 2016 Dusseldorf, Germany.

The Keys to Real Estate Leads Podcast (coming Oct. 5th, 2015) will focus on interviewing top agents and real estate professionals on branding, marketing, and becoming mega agents in any market. Keys to Real Estate Leads also offers a course that teaches agents how to dominate and stand out from the crowed in the noisy online world as well as helping agent NOT BUY LEADS!

The course covers everything from building a professional website, building landing pages, and generating tons of leads from Facebook, Google and other online sources. If you want to succeed, it is a great investment that teaches you how to do every part of online lead generation and does not just keep selling you products.

MIKE ROCK - I was going to say I have a hard time watching him also, to many facial expressions for me. His book is very professionally written though, I was surprised.

Thanks for the review Stefan, the author may be an irritating ass, but he is doing something right, so he should have something of value to teach.

Stefan, I have watched this program--oh the egos! They DO squirm at times, though and are working with such high dollar properties and yet, they can go through what WE ordinary and not famous realtors go through with deals that fail.

I love a whole swath of material in book form. Reading is SUCH a passion. I will have to check this out.

Many years ago, two books that I recall made a difference for me:

Do What you Love and the Money Will Follow

and

What They Don't Teach You In Harvard Business School

I believe I got those titles right, hopefully!
