Energy Vampires ~ They Are Lurking Everywhere!
I bet all of you know exactly what I am talking about right? Paula, what the heck is an energy vampire? I know you know them and I know that you have some of them in your life.
Characteristics of an Energy Vampire:
- A person who sucks the life out of you by:
- Wasting your time.
- Whining about all of their problems.
- Refusing to take responsibility for their own actions.
- Selfish and self-centered.
- Someone who likes to snuff out your dreams by:
- Trying to deflate your ideas.
- Filling your mind with negative thoughts.
- Not being supportive when you are excited about a new project or idea.
- Is never happy about your successes.
Those energy vampires I am sure are coming to your mind. Who are they? Why are you allowing them to suck the life out of you?
Aside from wearing garlic around your neck, there are some positive methods to negate these types of people.
- STOP asking them for their opinion regarding your dreams.
- Confront them when they are poo-pooing you. Let them know that they are welcome to their opinions but you are choosing to no longer listen to them.
- Do NOT let them get you down. You control what you choose to upset you and what you choose to let go of!
- Decide now if this person(s) are those that you might need to let go of in your life. Perhaps you don't need to hang with them as much. If they are family members, you can love them yet put boundaries on them as far as their "advice" goes. WARNING: Our family members and close friends can sometimes be "well-meaning" energy vampires!
- Once and for all, LIVE your own life! Go for the gold! Take chances and be proud of the fact that you are out there trying something new! Most people don't have the guts!
- Celebrate each and every positive step forward!
OK, now get out there and ignore those Energy Vampires. They are lurking everywhere! You have been warned!
