The Most Expensive Home sold in Arizona last week - 9/8/15

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Zion Realty

Every area of the Country is known for it's certain style of home that builders and buyers are accustom to. When you think of houses in Arizona you think stucco exteriors, tile roofs, stone veneer accents, and small to non-existent front porches and front yards. The most expensive home that sold in Arizona last week seems as if it was transported from a Southern plantation and dropped off right in the middle of the desert. There is nothing Southwestern about this Colonial style house.

Tall front porch columns greet you as you step on to a huge front porch. The interior of this home will also take you back in time to almost a civil war era style and design. The light fixtures, solid wood paneled library with a fireplace, paint scheme, and different wood floor patterns, are unlike anything you typically see here in this part of the Country. This type of home is usually know for being large and spacious and this property doesn't disappoint at almost 7,500 square feet in size. Unfortunately there are minimal pictures with this listing but even the ones that can be viewed will give you a great representation of what the rest of the home must look like. Nestled right at the base of the famous Camelback Mountain it only took five months for this property to get it's $3.25 Million dollar asking price. Click on the picture below for the full MLS listing:

Location: Paradise Valley

Size: 7,470 sqft

Bedrooms: 3

Bathrooms: 5

Lot size: 140,665 sqft

Wow, that definitely doesn't look southwestern!  I love your idea of posting the "most expensive home sold in...."  In the imitation is the sincerest form of flattery category, I just might do this for Orange County NY!

Do it Kat Palmiotti! If we even get one luxury buyer or seller per year because of it then it's worth the time.

It does kind of look out of place but I guess I would too amongst homes of that price range Nicole Doty - Gilbert Real Estate Expert

I feel out of place whenever I drive up that way.

Nicole- what a different interior from what you see outside. And I agree with Kat Palmiotti , this type of post is good to add to your blogging schedule.

Thanks Kathy. I've been doing this weekly post for about 25 weeks now and it gets a lot of local clicks.

Hi Nicole... now that is some gorgeous home and I know I sure could live there! I liked the fact that on the inside it looked more traditional and not southwestern in style.

It is a very traditional home style. Whether the new buyers are going to update it or not who knows.

Hi Nicole - Aw, shucks, only 8 pictures :( Still, it looks like a great property, maybe a bit formal for my taste, but I would have loved the listing.

I know right? I said the same thing about the lack of pictures. It sold pretty fast considering.

Nicole-I would love the view from this home. Love the fact that there is no grass to mow and the pool is gorgeous. As far as the inside. Too fancy for me but I do like the painting or mural on the room painted light blue

It's a very fancy and formal home inside that's for sure.

Looks like someone living on a plantation had a really huge helicopter and got really tired of the southern humidity....plopped their colonial down in the Arizona sand!

That's exactly what it looks like. Whoever had it built had a very specific style that they wanted to display which didn't match the area at all!

You don't see those giant columns and the formal inside decor very often at all out here.

Hello Nicole Doty - Gilbert Real Estate Expert

Now that is my kind of style, but desert living is not for me...so I guess it's a good thing the buyer that now owns it loves the heat.

That area of Phoenix is a little to "desert" for me as well.

Hi Nicole --- as Dick Greenberg commented, I was surprised to find only eight photos for a three million dollar home -- I guess that must have been the right number for this very special home.
