We all know that real estate agents are not looked at by the public in the highest regard. That discussion is for another time.
I want to help agents around the country be regarded by the public at large by starting with something simple.
It hurts me to see that agents have on their correspondences that they are Licensed Realtors. i've seen this from agents new and old, with big agencies and small brokerages.
The National Assocaition of Realtors does not issue licenses. You are licensed by the state that has given you tests, etc. NAR is a trade association that we are members of.
Stop looking silly. Change your titles but be smart about it. Try this:
Billy W Smithers
Licensed Real Estate Salesperson
Member, South County Board of REALTORS
This way, you've shown them you are licensed AND different from a "plain" agent.
You an also add a paragrpah or two on your website or blog about what makes your membership in a Realtor board and why that makes you different (Code of Ethics, etc.)
But please...no more licensed realtors!
