Lovers of Modern architecture are looking forward to the first Modern Mile home tour, on October 3, 2015. Six homes will be open in the Walnut Hill Neighborhood bordered by Walnut Hill Lane, Midway Road, Royal Lane and Marsh Lane. I've talked with a few people who plan to wear running or walking shoes and walk from home to home. Most will choose to drive. The homes are located within a square mile area. Guests can begin the tour at the home of their choice.
Five of the six homes have been renovated using building materials and architectural details that capture the spirit of modern and contemporary style that is trending in Dallas. The sixth home, in the photo above, is new construction.
Proceeds from this event benefit Walnut Hill Elementary School's Two-Way Dual Language Immersion Program designed to promote bilingual proficiency for Spanish and English speaking students. The school, located near the tour homes, will be open on Saturday. Guided tours of the school will be given by Principal Chase McLaurin.
