Modern Mile Home Tour - October 3

By

Modern Mile Lovers of Modern architecture are looking forward to the first Modern Mile home tour, on October 3, 2015. Six homes will be open in the Walnut Hill Neighborhood bordered by Walnut Hill Lane, Midway Road, Royal Lane and Marsh Lane. I've talked with a few people who plan to wear running or walking shoes and walk from home to home. Most will choose to drive. The homes are located within a square mile area. Guests can begin the tour at the home of their choice.

Five of the six homes have been renovated using building materials and architectural details that capture the spirit of modern and contemporary style that is trending in Dallas. The sixth home, in the photo above, is new construction.

Proceeds from this event benefit Walnut Hill Elementary School's Two-Way Dual Language Immersion Program designed to promote bilingual proficiency for Spanish and English speaking students. The school, located near the tour homes, will be open on Saturday. Guided tours of the school will be given by Principal Chase McLaurin.

Hi Sharon.  That sounds like fun although I have never been a big fan of modern homes.

Hello Sharon Parisi

This is going to be a great event - hopefully our temperatures will drop a bit so that walking home-to-home will be fun!

Conrad, it's always interesting to follow architectural trends. For many years, buyers were not interested in Modern and Contemporary architecture.  Many Dallas buyers are excited about the Modern/Contemporary trend ranging from soft contemporary to sleek modern designs. It will be interesting to see how long this trend lasts.

Hi Sharon, this looks like my kind of event for sure.  I love home tours, particularly when the architecture is so interesting.  Hope you take lots of photos and share them with us.

Joanna, I'm looking forward to this home tour next week. Unfortunately, no photos are allowed in the homes in order to protect the homeowners.
