Sorry But I Cannot Help You Sell Your House

Reblogger Praful Thakkar

We get such a call once in a while! And we should have guts to say what Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland said to this seller!

"Sorry But I Cannot Help You Sell Your House!"

Sorry But I Cannot Help You Sell Your House

Prepared for a listing appointment by asking lots of questions, doing all the comps,  checking out the neighborhood and driving by ahead of the scheduled time.

The house was in need of  major TLC.

My definition of TLC  = Tons Liquid Cash.

From out phone interview, I knew the seller's bottom line.

Since I had made the appointment, I went to the door and knocked.

The seller asked if I wanted to come in.

My reply: "No thanks, I just wanted to tell you that I am not going to be the one helping you sell your house."

Sometimes you have to walk away as the seller wants a big price but the property will not get it in the condition it is in. If they insist on the overpriced amount, I have learned with my years in real estate is to walk and let someone who is desperate to take it and deal with the low offers, seller rejection and lastly have the sellers blame the real estate agent for not getting a good offer.

Good mornings Praful. Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland used her instinct to make the decision not to work with this client. I made up a long time ago to never fight my intuition.

Great choice for a re-blog.

The home sells as per what market dictates and not what sellers want.

Scott Godzyk and I know sellers do not like the bad news - they want what they want.

Anna Banana Kruchten marketable homes makes everyone's life easy. Completing some needed work is all it requires! And some sellers......you know that well!

Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland this is a great post - and great message!

We can say 'NO' to some of the sellers - why not?

(After all sellers blame us for NOT selling the home, correct?)

Larry Johnston its time, energy and money. At the end of it, we get bad name if the home does not sell! Lots of things at stakes.

Joe Petrowsky I know, what happens when we fight our own sixth sense! Never worth it. Just say 'no' when your heart says so!

It is not so uncommon for sellers to expect more than what market sustains. It's our job as a professional to give them right advice.
