E-pro certification

By
Real Estate Agent with Trigg County Realty

Just a question for some of you out there.  I am currently taking the e-pro certification class.  Do any of you have experience with this.  I really have enjoyed the class so far, I think it will help me tremendously.  If you already have your e-pro designation, let me know how it has helped you.

Charles - to be honest, it really hasn't helped me much, I was pretty good with the computer already. It did get me into blogging though. For someone who is less experienced with the internet/email/computers, it's probably very good.

They have you go to realtalk for blogging, compared to active rain, I thought it was pretty bad. I didn't like the way the moderators controlled the whole blogging thing.

One of the most beneficial things for me was that it was the 2nd class that I needed for my ABR certification.

Feel free to email me if you run into any problems or have any questions.

If you aren't familar with internet technology it will probably teach you a few things. If you're just looking for a designation to add to your name- it's an easy one.  And, as Peter said - it will work towards other designations. As far as the cost- it's farily inexpensive.

Charles todays realtor must be able to grasp the web and use technology with all of the freebies that exit online for you to take advantage of- free website listings to post, use of html & links in emails to send to clients, MLS websites. Today just putting a sign on a property or in the local rag will not sell a house and its not worth the cost and cant compare to the online freebies. I have a computer background that sets me apart from most realtors who have none. You will be far better off taking the course and be prepared for the future. If I can help you pls let me know. Good luck on your final

Charles.... To be honest it hasn't helped me either.  I finished it in February and a GRI instructor said that it took her 25+hours.  I finished it in less than 8 hours.  Granted my background is technology and I felt this was elementary level.  Although there are individuals out there that really should take the e-Pro classes, with today's technology you cannot fall behind or you will be left behind.

Charles --

The e-Pro certification has been WONDERFUL!   I got mine several years ago, and along with the other designations - it really makes clients feel you have invested in your business with your knowledge!    Also, you can subscribe to the Real Town on-line community, which you get some GREAT ideas from each and every day.    This is a great place to locate a referral agents, especially if you have a client that is VERY saavy with the computer.   There is always a get together at the NAR national convention, and you get to meet those who post comments - which is very neat!   Also, I think the knowledge you gain just from going thru this on-line class is priceless!   Good luck, and HOPE you get this certification!

Ryan- They are just giving you basics of how the internet works, and how you can use email, website and various other online avenuesa to brand yourself and market your houses.  I hope they  can come out with a more advanced class or certification that will go more in-depth.

Charles - I imagine that e-Pro covers blogging these days. I wish that they would have in 2003. It has to be tough to come up with a course that is general enough for everyone to understand. The scope of computer knowledge of real estate agents has to be pretty wide. I have to think that the intent of the class is to bring the agents that are falling behind up to speed. For those agents that seek greater knowledge, there are a lot forums where they can go and learn.

It was fun, but I didn't really learn much I didn't already know. ANd I have had NO comments from customers/clients, even though I have it on cards and on our web site.
