Jamestown Island is the home of the first permanent English settlement in the United States.
Sunday, December 27th was a beautiful warm day here in Williamsburg.
I had not driven through Jamestown Island for a while so I decided it was a great day to take a ride there.
The island is reached via the Colonial Parkway over a small bridge that crosses Powhatan Creek where it flows into the James River.
Once you arrive on Jamestown Island the road is one way. There are two routes: one is a short tour of about one and a half miles and the longer tour is six miles.
Jamestown is a nice place for biking, hiking or a casual drive.
There are several wooden bridges on the six mile route as you can see in a couple of the photos below.
The creeks are another beautiful sight on Jamestown Island.
