It’s time for the New Haven Area Easter Egg Hunts. The Easter Bunny will be hopping around too making an appearance at a number of Easter Egg Hunt festivities scheduled in the New Haven area  for 2016. 

Children have so much fun participating in these Easter Egg Hunts filling their baskets collecting colored Easter eggs and candy. Other activities that may be included for the children, their older siblings and parents are music, entertainment, games and food. Prizes are often awarded too to the winners in each age group of the children.

Do you know the history behind the meaning of the egg hunt on Easter?

According to Wikipedia "The egg was a symbol of the rebirth of the earth in pre-Christian celebrations of spring. However, the Easter egg itself was defined by early Christians as an Easter symbol of the resurrection of Jesus: the egg symbol was likened to the tomb from which Christ arose."

Branford Easter Egg Hunt

Date and Time: Saturday March 19, 2016 11:00 am

Where:  Foote Park - Melrose Avenue

Information: Age groups

4 years and younger
5-6 years old
7-8 years old
9-10 years old

East Haven-The Shore Line Trolley Museum East Bunny Trolley

Date and Time:  March 19th-20th and March  25, 26, 2016  10:30 am-4:30 pm

Where:  The Shore Line Trolley Museum, 17 River St. East Haven CT 06512

Admission:  Adults: $10.00, Seniors (62+): $8.00, Children (2-15): $6.00, Under Age 2: Free

Information: Ride the trolley and meet the Easter Bunny!  Springtime crafts and indoor museum exhibits.

East Haven-Easter Eggstravaganza at Village at Mariner's Point

Date and Time:  March 19th from 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm (Easter Egg Hunt starts promptly at 1:45 pm)

Admission:  Open to children 10 years and under

Information: Meet the East Bunny (take photos with Easter Bunny for $5.00

The MDC Women's Support Group will be sponsoring a bake sale in the lobby. Proceeds will benefit "Big Daddy" Liver Cancer Benefit

Guilford Eggstravaganza

Date and Time:  Saturday March 12, 2016 10:00 am

Where:  Guilford Green

Rain Date:  March 19th

Admission: FREE

Information:  The Easter Bunny will be making an appearance to deliver candy

Madison Easter Egg Hunt

Date and Time: Saturday March 19 2016 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Where:  Surf Club in Madison, Surf Club Road Madison CT 06443

Admission: FREE

Information: Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st & 2nd grade

New Haven – New Haven Party with the Easter Bunny

Date and Time:  March 19, 2015 10:00 am-12:00 pm

Orange - Easter Egg Hunt - PEZ Visitor Center

Date and Time:  Saturday March 26, 2016 10:30 am - 1:00 pm

Where:  PEZ Visitor Center - 35 Prindle Hill Road, Orange CT 06477

Admission: The egg hunt is free - regular admission rates apply to the Visitor Center.

Information:  The Easter Bunny will be inside the Visitor Center from 11:30 am - 1:00pm

Wallingford Golden Egg Hunt

Date and Time:  Thursday March 10, 2016 7:00 pm

Where:  Doolittle Park Playscape, South Elm Street Wallingford CT 04692

Rain Date:  Friday March 11th

Admission: FREE

Information:  Join in the fun to find plastic filled eggs, candy and 9 special Gold Eggs that will be spread for each group.  Children are asked to find only one Golden Egg. The event will be divided into two age groups for children 1-5 and children 6-11. The hunt for the younger children starts at 7:00…older children at 7:15.  Parents are asked to bring a basket and flashlight for their children.

Wallingford Egg Your City WHITEOUOT 

Date and Time:  Saturday March 26, 2016 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Where:  Lyman Hall High School, 70 Pond Hill Road, Wallingford CT 04692

Admission: For kid up to 12 years old (Open to ALL-residence in Wallingford not required)

Information:  20,000 Easter eggs filled with candy, interactive family games and face painting
