Starting with a natural landscape that makes your heart skip a beat, Sedona is nestled among a geological wonderland. Multi-hued stone formations jut upwards from the high desert floor creating a vivid, mesmerizing setting that changes hourly with the movement of the earth.
Sedona is equal parts rugged, equal parts resort and clearly a place that the Native Americans considered sacred. It is recognized as a place of healing and spiritual renewal with its trails for hiking and biking which weave among a bristling forest of pinnacles, spires, buttes and domes. And yet, you are never far from the center of town - a mecca for both local and international artists who "paint, pot, blow glass and smith" some of the most beautiful and creative pieces that I have ever seen.
My trip with my friend Robin was a real girlfriend adventure. We hiked Bell Rock, Soldier's Pass, Devil's Bridge and took a 2 hour Pink Jeep tour to the Grand Canyon. We shopped, explored the Anasazi Indian ruins, shopped some more, indulged in massages at a luxurious spa, had our Auras read by a renowned spiritualist in the ghost town of Jerome, dined on the most delicious refried beans I have ever tasted and of course, shopped some more!
They say that "God created the Grand Canyon but lives in Sedona"! I guess we would have to ask our friend Anna Banana Kruchten of Phoenix if that is the case, but there is no question that as a vacation destination Sedona is definitely heaven.
