Cate Square Park
Cate Square is located in downtown Hammond, Louisiana within walking distance to local shops. It has a fenced in playground for the kiddies. A gazebo is located close by which is commonly used for weddings, picnics and photo opportunities.
North Oak Park
Located close to Southeastern Louisiana University, this park features walking/running trails that connect with the SLU campus, so you have no worries about traffic. Fitness spots are also located by the trail so you can up your exercise regimen and really sweat. There is a splash pad for relief from those hot Hammond summers. Baseball fields, a pond and playground equipment round out the amenities here.
Zemurray Park
Zemurray Park is a perennial favorite in the city. It is the one of the larger parks in the area with multiple ponds that were recently stocked with catfish and rainbow trout. Hammond's Dreamland Skate park is a new addition where kids and adults gather to practice and trade tricks. Zemurray park also offers walking trails, playground equipment, a community pool, basketball courts, tennis courts and a new dog park as well. During Christmas time the park is decorated in twinkling lights and you can take a ride on the miniature train that runs around the park.
Chappapeela Sports Park
Chappapeela has an indoor gymnasium that can be used for basketball or volleyball. The gym is also used for cheer-leading and dance competitions!
The outdoor area consists of 21 Soccer fields, including 6 U6 fields, 6 U8 fields, 3 U10 fields, 4 U12 fields, and 2 U14+ fields. Not a soccer fan? This park has two regulation football fields with scoreboards. In love with America's pastime? How about 6 baseball fields, 4 softball fields and 2 adult softball fields?
If you are not into competitive sports, there is a 1.5 mile walking trail that is open from dawn to dusk.
If your little ones need someplace to burn off that excess energy, Chappapeela has 3 playgrounds available to wear them out. A splash pad rounds out the available things to do here.
