Cue The Bald Eagle!

This is a true story that happened to me a couple years ago while I was showing lakeshore property on Madeline Island.

I was on the north end of the Island with a couple, showing them lakeshore property.  We had looked at quite a few lake lots that afternoon and I think we were all a bit fatigued after hiking uphill and down for nearly three hours.

We hiked uphill to the bank of one property, overlooking Stockton Island.  The Lake Superior panorama was awesome and the weather was gorgeous.  My clients paused to take it all in.  And just at that moment, a bald eagle swooped down in front of them and landed in a tree about thirty yards away.

The husband turned to me with a look of surprise and said "tell me, did you arrange for that to happen"?

I replied, "Yeah, there's a guy hiding in the trees over there and I picked up a walkie-talkie and whispered "Cue the bald eagle"!

He broke out laughing.

They wrote their offer for the property later that afternoon.

Friend of mine sells in a mountain area, bears and deer walking around can either help or hurt the sale.

Dick -- Nothing scares off clients faster than running into a bear on the trail during a showing!  Except maybe for the time that a woman client of mine tripped over a nest of garter snakes once.  She shrieked and ran back to the car.  And they never bought anything after that traumatic experience..

The eagle might have made me write the offer also.  That is a sight we don't get in Hawaii.

Was it the bald eagle or your sense of humor that got 'em?
Hopefully that tree wasn't in the way of building a home on that lot!

Randy -- Madeline Island happens to be a major bald eagle nesting area.  We're fortunate to see many of them.

Nancy, I thought it was funny that he'd even ask if I had anything to do with the eagle.  The timing was so perfect, maybe he thought it was something we do at every showing!  LOL

Eric - that is fantastic!  I'm sure the  buyers took that as a good omen.

Tiffany -- Seeing an eagle is generally considered lucky, although I've heard to the contrary.  I'm not superstitious, but the eagle's appearance at that moment certainly didn't hurt.

I need the number to the Bald Eagle Guy! That is funny way to go on the offer. We have several Eagles around and a pair of Ospreys in a huge nest at the entrance of our community. These birds are breathtaking. I think someone was looking out on your behalf.

Jason & Deanna -- Maybe it would be possible to find a falconer who could train a bald eagle to fly in on cue!  Then again, maybe that's illegal..I don't know if you can make a pet of America's national symbol!
