California is the second in the US mushroom production which is about 875M pounds annually. Santa Clara and Monterey counties when combined produce 60% of the State according to a local source.
Morgan Hill, California is a rural town. Since 1979 it has been sponsoring a mushroom theme festival on the Memorial Day weekend. This year it would be its 37th time. Most of the events are held in downtown Morgan Hill, CA. When it was held at the old Park (now new Rec Center), wild ducks and geese get rounded up into a truck and get a ride back afterwards.

One day they still have the Farmers Market selling fruits, flowers and food. The rest is rushroom theme stuffed, fried, marinated. This is also the local growers showing off how they grow and nutritional values and research results.

This year the organizer decided a Premium Wine Tasting Event. For $25 one can sample 12 different local wines and a free wine glass. They have different themes in each day. The admission is free. Inspite of urban encrochment, there are still 5 local wineries and several mushroom farms. Wine tasting was to be free. One can go from winery to another all day long. Now, there is a cover charge.
Local realtors, chamber of commerce and students are also pitching in to make some money for their goal. This year I did not see realtors out there talking to the half drunk visitors -can you sign this and that and initial this document and give me an EMD please? Obviously prospecting is not productive when people want mushroom or wine.
