Use Flipboard to Increase Your Online Reach
As I periodically do when I try something I believe has online value, I share it here in the Rain so others can give it a try. Such is the case with Flipboard. In truth, Bill Gassett first told me about this site and how it could be used to curate content. Kudos to you Bill for sharing!
The premise behind the site is you create "magazines" of information that can easily be shared and viewed. Creating a magazine literally takes only a few minutes and is limited only by your imagination.
Setting Up a Flipboard Profile
Follow these simple steps to setup a Flipboard account. It is incredibly easy, even for a novice, and takes less than 30 seconds (yes, seconds) to save an article to a magazine.
I created a free account and also downloaded the free Chrome Browser Extension "Flip It". That way I can either go to my flipboard account directly from my laptop and add content to magazines or I can click the Chrome Extension "Flip It" Icon when checking out an article online and save that article/page to a magazine using that method.
It is mobile friendly too so you can save content to and share from your magazines via your mobile device too.
Flipboard Magazines
For instance, you could create magazines on topics like:
- Subdivisions
- Market reports
- Buyer tips
- Seller tips
- Mortgage information
- Homes for sale
- Landscaping
- Social media marketing (or perhaps each of your profiles)
- Staging information
- Local events
- Local businesses
- Homes with pools, acreage, 3 car garages, etc.
- Some other niche you want to promote
Once created, share that magazine full of great information with your social media readers. If you have curated content from other sources share it with those you highlight. If they all share it with their readers you can really grow your brand quickly and get the content in front of a lot of eyes fast.
For instance, below are a few magazines I just created.
The generic real estate tips magazine has content from a variety of sources. The market information one has market reports from my site for the last 2 years for the community listed (with links pointing back to each of those articles on my site).
Flipboard Tips
The links you receive for sharing your content are "do-follow" and the site has a very high domain authority (84). For those that understand D-F and DA, I suspect you will be heading over quickly, as you should.
Even if you do not understand those terms, it is definitely worth your time to create an account and begin sharing your articles. The more ways we can get quality content in front of online consumers the better.
If you do decide to try it, stop by and follow me on Flipboard. I will see that you have followed me and reciprocate. If you have created magazines I will even share one or more of them via Twitter to my followers.
