Tickets for the Broadway play Hamilton went on sale this morning. I was totally intent to get tickets, so my daughter and I could go see it.
It's getting rave reviews across the country... and in New York, seats are going for thousands of dollars.
So, I made an appointment with myself to make sure that I was online, and on the phone, to make sure I could get tickets... I knew that the information super interwebs would be jammed, and I needed to get up early.
The tickets went on sale at 10:00 a.m. promptly, as I watched the clock tick down I had the television turned on, and they were showing the 6 block line of people who'd slept outside of the Theatre to get tickets.
I had firefox, Safari and Chrome open on the computer, and kept dialing and redialing Ticketron... my first attempt said "yes, you've reserved tickets... wait for confirmation. 45 minute wait".... after about 30 minutes it disconnected me. That happened three times.
I finally was able to get tickets... not the seats I wanted... and not the date I wanted.. but I have seats. It took me four-and-a-half hours. It better be good.
There were websites that offered "instant" seats... decent seats... but they started at $1,950.00. Uh uh... not gonna happen. The tickets I got were reasonably priced (for broadway-style-shows, anyway)... and I have tickets. I have tickets!!
