Does your area sell fireworks to the public? Or do they have a professional firework display? What do you prefer?
Here in Josephine County, Oregon fireworks are only allowed on July 4th between 6pm-11pm (some exceptions apply). Since the 4th is right around the corner I thought I would share some safety tips:
Fireworks can be fun and entertaining but also dangerous. So remember to always:
- Obey all locals laws regarding firework use
- Know your fireworks: read the cautionary labels and performance descriptions before igniting
- Provide adult supervision to children . 4 our of 10 people injured are children under the age of 15
*Keep your precious gifts safe*
- Alcohol and fireworks don't mix. Save your alcohol for after the show
- Wear safety glasses
- Light one firework at a time and then quickly move away
- Do not hold fireworks items in your hands
- Ignite fireworks ONLY in clear areas away from structures and combustible vegetation
- Keep a bucket of water and water hose close by
- Use bucket of water to soak used and "duds". Dispose wet fireworks by wetting them down and place in metal trashcan away from buildings and combustible matierlas until next day.
- Do not shoot fireworks in glass or metal containers
- Do not experiment with homemade fireworks
Taking Care of your Pets:
- Don't take your pets to a fireworks display
- Never leave your pet in the car
- Move your pets indoors to a sheltered area
- Don't leave pet outdoors even if it is fenced
- If they happen to run away do they have a identification tag?
Final Note:
Have fun! Be Safe!
