I answered my phone

I answered my phone.

Yesterday (Sunday afternoon) I was on the golf course (not surprising) when my phone rang. I answered it of course and a woman said her and her husband was driving around a small town in our county. They noticed a for sale sing in the front yard of the home. They called the agent (one of mine) for two days, with no call back from the agent.

They wanted to see the home and while I was still playing I made contact with the agent and made arrangements to show the home today. New client all because the agent who is also the owner did not answer their phone or return a call. Their loss my gain. I just don’t understand; anyone have an answer for this one?

I'm confused with your post James Dray was the agent one of yours?  if that was one of the peeps for whom I market, they'd be calling 911 to get my foot out of his a$$....

I have no answer as to why an agent would not return his or her calls.

I'm surprised they kept calling the agent for 2 days, as most will find another realtor less than 15 minutes if they don't get an answer.

Hi James Dray - If the agent is yours, I would ask him/her what happened? Sometimes there may be a good reason why.  If there is no good reason....show the agent these posts!

The answer is first, human nature. The second one is in any prfession there are many who do not believe in excellence or have the talent to succeed.

I don't get this behavior. Answering my phone has impressed more than one buyer and seller. I'll continue to keep answering my phone. It pays off.

Perhaps there was some reason, unfortunately this is not an isolated story. There are two major things I can think of off the top of my head that really bother me. One, are agents that do not answer or reply to their phones (voice box filled), or text messages or emails.  The other is their crappy listing photos or videos.  Like, what is this 'postage-stamp size photo' surrounded with a huge, dead border.......go back to kindergarten.

You cannot help wondering:  Don't you want to sell the listing,  So aggravating when you have a highly interested buyer and cannot make any contact.  Never forgot the agent that it took me one whole week to make contact.  And he was NOT out of town.

Hi James Dray ,  Your guess is as good as mine.  There must be a lot of agents that don't need the money!

Makes me wonder why they call themselves a real estate agent.  As you said James Dray their loss is your gain.
