Our Home Area: Some Local Stats on Dawson Co. Georgia!

Atlanta is growing at an incredible rate! 25 years of living in the Atlanta area allows us to make this observation! 

For the past 15 years Sue and I have lived in Dawson County Georgia, 60 miles north of downtown Atlanta.

A few weeks ago we heard the head of the Dawson County Chamber, Christie Haynes, speak to our Keller Williams Community Partners Office. Over 225 agents work out this office making it the largest office in the area.

Here we go:

  • 22,377 residents in the county, projected growth of 5% in the next 5 years
  • Median Household of $56,903
  • Median Home Value of $176,845 projected to be $229.528 in the next 5 years (approx 4% appreciation per year)
  • 10,887 homes with 18% rented
  • 94.8% White, 4.1% Hispanic
  • Of the residents in Dawson County who work: 13.9% work in the county while the remaining 86.1% work in various counties around the area
  • Retail remains a strong component part of the county with over $23,366 in retail services generated for every person living in Dawson County
  • Two major retail centers are currently under construction, Dawson Crossroads and Dawson Marketplace. Both projects represent over $110 million dollars investment in the county. They will also add over 750 jobs!

Dawson County is growing rapidly however it continues to cling to its outdoor routes. Hiking on the Appalachian Trail, Amlicalola Falls, Boating on Lake Lanier, Kayaking on the Etowah River, Mountain biking, golfing at the Chestatee Golf Course or Crystal Falls, The Atlanta Motorsports Park for private car racing, and the counties roots to NASCAR.
