Now is the time to start checking your home in preparation for winter. A few hours of inspection and maintenance can result in having a problem free, warm and cozy winter. And possibly save hundreds of dollars in energy savings and repairs.
1. WINDOWS
- Check for gaps around your frames, on the inside and outside. Use a good grade of caulk to seal any you find.
- Repair any broken or loose frames or sill boards.
- If your windows are older and not well insulated, consider adding a plastic barrier to them to keep your heat from escaping to the great outdoors. There are many kinds available and you can choose one for your skill level.
