Getting Ready for Halloween - Holiday Decor (Contest)
Another great part Kimo Stowell s October contest, is about the Halloween Decor we display at our home. Unlike many of the other Holidays, our decorations for Halloween is more of a festive Autumn theme which also includes pumpkins, squash, apples and various types of gourds . The display welcomes guests to the front porch.
Candles are always a good decoration for any Holiday. You can change the colors to fit the need, such as Fall colors of reds, orange and yellows. They work well for Halloween and Thanksgiving, so we will leave them up until after Thanksgiving. then we turn to Reds and Greens for the Christmas Holiday. When Spring arrives with the Easter Holiday, pastel candles will be on display. For Memorial Day and 4th of July Holidays, the traditional red, white and blue will be on display. As you can see, we don't normally light them, for fire safety.
As you approach our front door, you are greeted with an old door decorated with a Fall basket, surrounded by a few other decorations and a basket of white paper birch logs. The blue wicker color matches the color of the front door.
We live on a busy street near the entrance to the subdivision without sidewalks, so we don't ever get any Halloween Trick or Treater's, but we have our lights on and our welcome sign out just in case some little goblins or whatever is popular this season, shows up wanting more treats for their bag or pumpkin full of goodies.
