While in Scottsdale this week, we stopped into AK Studio to visit our friend who specializes in designing contemporary kitchens. Personally we are tired of granite as the ubiquitous countertop, and we were looking forward to seeing what Joe had come up with. The picture above is what he refers to as a modern Crafstman style.
This pantry is done with barn doors made of African mahogany. The wood in our opinion made the kitchen. This is one side of the pantry. Below is the other side.
Check out the silverware drawers. The spice jars are hollowed out concrete cores. We love the ingenuity of taking a common item and making it useful and special.
Details like this ingenious design of the corner cabinet that is often hard to get to and a waste of space make a huge difference. We learned so much about the latest and greatest equipment as well as the new materials on the market.
