Member Spotlight - March 1, 2007

Welcome to the first installment of the Member Spotlight.  This was inspired by my thought on how to get people networking with each other.  I put a call out to the members and everyone liked the idea so here we are!  The basic idea of this Spotlight is simple, when it is your turn to do it, you are going to write about someone that you did not know before, call them and share some information on that person.  Your second task is to also interview the following week's author....

My selected person this week is from Lewiston, ID, the town name caught my attention, growing up right next to Lewiston, NY.   Quickly approaching 20,000 points I thought she would be a perfect person to feature this week.  Slowly, steadily she has become #1 in in Idaho.  Something being in the very competitive state of Florida I don't see myself achieving anytime soon.  

On Sunday I got to know Shari George on the phone.  It was a fun conversation, when I called she was sitting in her car waiting to show a property.  She was an hour early and wondered what she was going to do when I called.  This mother of three (2 boys 16, 14 & a daughter 8) keeps busy and she was happy to share that she is going to celebrate her 10th wedding anniversary this spring.  She just bubbled with joy talking about her family and how lucky she is to live in Washington just across the Snake River from Lewiston.  In her free time she plays Fiddle mostly old time, but would love to learn Celtic, but finding an instructor has proven difficult.

She learned about our network through Rich Jacobson over at www.myspace.com.  He was the first person to associate with her, when I was poking around her profile, I discovered I was the second. 

I asked her who she most admired here at Active Rain, she immediately said Rich Jacobson.  She shared how much he has helped her and what most impressed her about him was the fact that he loved his family so much.  She said that every time she seems to speak with him he is on his way to do something with his family.  She also mentioned that Kristal Kraft is great at sharing her knowledge...

She has posted more than 70 posts here at Active Rain and it was hard to just pick 5 but here area few that I think you might enjoy by Shari:

1. Why I like living in Asotin, Washington -- Great job sharing information about her home town, I especially liked the photo of the deer!
2. I vow never to be too busy for my family -- which has a very important reminder for all of us to keep our priorities straight!

4. She did a great series for New Licensees (ok there are six of them here -- bonus reading material)  I was impressed with some of the ideas.
5. This house was a Meth Lab - OMG Now What  Although the information is for Idaho, it still was very informative.

Next week's Member Spotlight will be written by Luke Constantino from Brooklyn New York.  He first came into my radar when I did the Week In Review early in January.  There I featured his very first post here at Active Rain. 

He said that some of the best thing about Active Rain is the networking and the phone calls that he is getting from local investors.  Having been in Real Estate for over 10 years, he is amazed by the number of tips and pointers that he is picking up here.  He remarked that he is suddenly seeing his view on things widening.

If he doesn't post it on Thursday, we are going to give him some slack.  His wife is ready to give birth any day now.  This will be their first child and he was joyful to tell me how excited he was!

So who does he admire here the most at Active Rain?  Mark Flanders.  He feels that he has a very refreshing, lively and informative posts full of great ideas.  Luke, feel good, Mark is going to share a graphic with you...   My favorite post of his is - The Problem With Leaving a Smiley Face - 86 comments -- I hope he leaves me a smiley for this!  Boy did he start a conversation.  Check out the rest of this newer member at his BLOG.
