The new year is finally upon us, and most of us are more than ready to kick 2016 to the curb and start over fresh! Here are a few fun resolutions every real estate agent should have!
1. I will prioritize my business, family, and friends and give appropriate attention to each! Make sure when starting your new year to have a plan that includes not only your work, but your play as well! Perhaps you need to set a specific time when you will turn off your devices and focus on your family, your friends, or yourself. It's important to strike a healthy balance, and it will make you a better agent if you know when it's time to buckle down and work, and when you can look forward to taking a much deserved break.
2. I will set a realistic goal and work hard to achieve it! Did you sell 50 houses in 2016? Why not try for 60 in 2017! While it may not seem like much, your main focus should be making sure that you end the coming year just a little better than the outgoing one. Make sure you set attainable goals so you don't get discouraged if you don't meet them - you'll feel much more accomplished if you surpass the mark!
3. I will focus on increasing my knowledge! As we all know, the market changes from day to day, and advances in technology are transforming our business more and more with each passing year. Do your best to find a way to increase your knowledge this year! Take a class to tune up some skills you already possess; take advantage of some continuing education that will teach you how to utilize new technology to it's highest capacity; or simply schedule a quarterly get-together with other agents in your area and pick each others' brains!
4. I will have a positive attitude! I know, this year has been a downer for a lot of us. But the new year offers the opportunity to start over fresh, and nothing goes hand in hand with a fresh start better than a positive attitude. The mistakes you made this year are now in the past. Don't dwell on them - move forward!
5. I will strive to understand my customers and connect with them in a meaningful way! None of us would achieve any measure of success without our loyal customers. These are people trusting us to help them make one of the biggest and most important decisions of their lives! Not all personalities mesh, and there are admittedly some people who are just difficult no matter how hard you try. But do your best in the coming year to form a relationship with each client you interact with, and try to put yourself in their shoes so that you can better understand where they're coming from. The extra effort will pay off tenfold over time!
