Port St Lucie Wins "Beautiful" Honor
When newcomers drive thru Port ST Lucie, the will notice a lack of litter in the city. Why? Port St Lucie's program to adopt a street simple helps Port ST Lucie stay beautiful. The program is an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful.
The city was recently honored by its national affitiate for making Port St Lucie a clean, green and beautiful commuity. Keep America beautiful presented Keep Port St Lucie Beautiful with its President's Circle Award recognition at the recent national conference in Washington, DC. "We Are honored to receive this award year after year. The award shows that the City of Port ST Lucie is truly a leader in Florida when it comes to preserving and protecting our environment. - quote from Carmen Capezzuto, director of Port St Lucie's Neighborhood Services Department.
As one of the largest cities in Florida, a big thank you went out to the 100's of volunteers participating in the program. The main criteria is to meet the standards of merit by conducting an annual community appearance index. The standards include Ending Littering, Improving Recycling and Beautifying the City of Port St Lucie's Community. I am proud to live here and collect tossed can's and paper when walking my dog in the evening. Just another reason to pick Port St Lucie if you are thinking of moving to Florida.
