Branding Moments: Using Colors For A Brand Identity!

Colors are an important element of a good brand. This colorful shoe box tells the story of the Kate Spade brand.  There are bright colors working together with a gold edging.  Bright colors create an instant recognition from a distance, like good signage does in real estate.

No doubt you have seen the classic robin egg blue trademarked by Tiffany & Co.  Louboutin shoes are known for their distinctive red soles.  Hermes distinguishes its brand with orange shopping bags, and boxes.  When creating a brand focus on color as one of the elements of recognition.

Good morning A.  We use a specific kind of color combinations.  Corporate provides us with the color combo.  It is that important to them and their image.

This is good advice to share. The RE/MAX colors are very easy to recognize.

James Dray when we create a brand for our clients, we provide a brand guideline, with colors, fonts, and various ways a brand will be used and in what formats.  This maintains the recognition factor.  A

Hi Alexandra... actually, I just realized that as I've never purchased a single Kate Spade item, I had no idea about their boxes or had ever seen one! Not sure I'll run out and buy something because of the box... but learned something new in the Rain today.

Good morning Ron and Alexandra Seigel ,

Brand colors that are distinctive are easily recognizable and remembered. When you see a Tiffany's package you know immediately it holds something of value!

Good morning, Alexandra and Ron -- a color or that special combination of some can certainly conjure up an image.   The result can certainly be quite memorable.

Karen Hellier in our point of view, colors should be determined by the market you serve and in part by your favorite colors.  Each color has a meaning and a message.  All that has to be harmonious with the brand.  For instance, in second home markets, we stay away from black, which is formal and better suited for big ciites and places where people dress up for work.  A

I'm all for a signature color and I agree that when it comes to brandiing, it sure is memorable.  When I see those pink or robin's egg blue boxes, I salivate in good pavlovian fashion!

Hi Ron & Alexandra - Those are all great examples. Colors are probably the first thing we notice about brands, whether we make conscious note of them or not.

That's so funny that you mentioned the Tiffany blue, because I just ordered a Gurgle Pot closing gift in that coloryesterday, as my seller  (and just so happens my buyer for the same house)love that color and she described it as Tiffany blue. It'll be fun to give them both the same gift at our final walk-through when they meet--yet another connection, which seems so fitting as the baton gets passed from seller to buyer.

Choosing colors can be an interesting task when you first start a new business, but can really make a business pop out from the crowd once you find your palate. :)
