This lavender flower bed caught our attention as we were walking to a store.  It does very well in our Coastal area, and  there are many lavender varieties. It is not just a pretty plant!

Lavender oil can be used as an antiseptic for cuts, bruises and skin irritations.  It is known for its relaxing effects in aromatherapy. It can also can be used in recipes both sweet and savory.  Epicurious has a wonderful recipe for pound cake with blueberries and lavender syrup.

Happy Friday!

Good morning A.  I looked at the recipe, it looks and sound great.  Never seen the syrup around here but I'm going on a treasure hunt today to see if I can find it.

Hi Ron & Alexandra - We have some lavender that's taking over a section of our front garden. It's really colorful and the bees love it. Have a great weekend!

Hi Alexandra and Ron... love the look of the flower fields, but unfortunately the smell of lavender gives me terrible headaches, so I have to stay away from it.

I tried growing a Lavender plant by my kitchen door a few times through the years.  Never any luck and so disappointed. Perhaps I will read up a little and try it again this year. I am still trying to have my Lilies of the Valley blossom.  In over five years, I have only seen 1 little white bell.  Once upon a time, I lived in a beautiful old 3 story Victorian. The Lilies of the Valley surrounded the base of the porch; in fact, we had to keep them from invading the lawns.  Hahaha !
