I used to teach sales but don't teach anymore. I used to teach those around me how to sell and get more business but I don't do that anymore either. Because in this different world so many have their own agenda and I watch them continue to be mediocre or simply continue to fail.
In college when a person takes a class that person (1) signs up for the class (2) pays for the class (3) studies and participates in the class (4) has exams along the way (5) either passes or fails the class.
My sales classes were wonderful because that operated very similar to the way a college class works except nobody really ever failed. But I notice so many in my own company and in my industry who simply don't take the first step; they don't even bother signing up for the class.
Then along comes someone who wants to really learn and do well. I am lucky because I have that person working for me now and it is exciting to see the world open up for her. This is March 29th and she became a commissioned mortgage broker and Realtor on March 1. Today she accepted an offer on her first listing and has an offer in for another client. She will have two new listings this weekend. She also is funding a mortgage loan tomorrow - March 30. It has been a few years since I have had a successful protoge; that person still works with me, is still on the young side, and earns in the top 1% of income earners in the United States and has a happy family and a fun balanced life. I am always excited for him.
It is exciting to help someone develop and I have always have had an open door to teach everyone around me but as the Master said two thousand years ago "the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.
