We woke up to a beautiful sparkling clean day this morning.  I noticed the oak cork tree in bloom (pictured above) as we parked beside it.  As you can imagine the market was crowded with locals and tourists on this Easter weekend.

Roots farms had this lovely floral display amid the artichokes!

Zucchinis are showing up in various shapes and colors, they are always first!

These gourmet rainbow carrots is guaranteed to make every bunny happy!

We loved the color of this Thai basil, which we often use when we make a Thai dish.  Its spicy licorice taste enhances the flavors.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

Lots of tantalizing colors in the market. Love zucchini and summer squash both. Love the colored carrots. Never had any color except orange. Do they all taste the same?

Ron and Alexandra- what glorious colors. My eyes went straight for the artichoke then they were blown away with the Thai basil.

Sharon Lee The rainbow carrots have a delicate taste not as intense as the orange one.  Our local restaurants pickled them and they are really good that way.

Kathy Streib That basil smells so good, it perfumes the air as you brush by it.  I usually by a plant and plant it in my little herb patch and it last for the whole season.  A

I bought some rainbow carrots for Easter dinner tomorrow - but they sure don't look as good as yours, Ron and Alexandra Seigel !  Got them at the local grocery store. Our Saturday market is still months away. Still dealing with snow showers in April this year!

Oh my gosh, I love the rainbow carrots, Alexandra! And, the artichokes are a favorite of mine too!  I actually made a quick stop at the local farmer's market yesterday and the place was filled with more flowers than food - I left wishing that I had remembered to snap a few shots.  It was a gorgeous day and the colors were just spectacular!

I understand those yellow flowers in the second photo, and their stems, are really a healthy treat to toss in to dishes you cook!  I saw them here last weekend in our market, but didn't buy any.  I want to try them soon.

Endre Barath, Jr. with all the nutrients that the rain brought, the artichokes have been phenomenal this year.  We really have enjoyed them.  It is definitely worth getting yourself to the market.  A
