While showing property recently, I told my buyers that I was expecting a phone call. I don't normally accept calls while I'm working with clients (be they buyers or sellers)... I like to give whomever I'm with my undivided attention.
I explained that I was waiting to hear if a different set of buyers offer had been accepted. Something we Realtors struggle with ... (do I take the call and interrupt my current clients, or do I disappoint the clients waiting at the other end of the call?)
When that call came in, I took it quickly... our offer had been accepted.
Made a really quick call to my buyers to congratulate them, and told them I'd be calling to give them follow-up information as soon as I was done with my current showings.
I apologized to my buyers, for the brief interruption... and they told me that they didn't really consider it an interruption. They considered it a representation of just how reachable I was.
They went on to explain that I was one of the most reachable people they'd met... whenever they call me I either answer my phone immediately or give them a call back right away. They were impressed and happy to see my reachability in person with another buyer.
I suppose it might have been perceived differently had I sat and chatted with the other buyers. But my call was polite and brief.
Ain't that something? What I viewed as a potential negative, was seen as a positive.
